Today is my birthday and the sun has been shining all morning which means that I have been a good girl. I am happy that nature is doing its best to make my day perfect.
Two cats and two doves are keeping company with me outside I see. Lovely birthday guests!
I wish all a great day - birthday or not.

This and that

Today I am working on a personal piece. I am loving having the time to work on something that is self-initiated. It is so comforting to see that I still have the ability to create out of "nothing". Working for clients is wonderful as well - realising other peoples visions - but nothing compares to creating from the heart. This practically gives me the chills! In a good way :)

I have the fireplace going, cup of coffee, music - which is Etta James today - and pencil and paper. Does one need anything else???

Love to all!

Interview

The digital magazine CHAOS has just launched their Fall issue which contains a feature about my work. You can read it here.
I feel flattered that they did such an extensive piece about me and feel that it does reflect what my work is all about. Thanks Ying-Di for writing such a nice article.

Nature theme

Not much has been going on of interest lately, hence the rather sparse blog. I am kind of coping with the winter blues, combined with a mountain of work having to be done around the house and in my studio and creative things to get done before the big 'C' looming, so I am looking a little glum.

Today I have decided to work through the day by the kitchen table as I feel like I need a shift.

The weather is beautiful today though. I love this kind of autumn weather where the sun is shining but it is still crisp.
After moving out of the city I am noticing the weather more. I have (re)discovered how you can stay out a greater part of the year and how nature changes through the seasons. I knew that even when I was living in the city, but somehow I didn't take that much notice and definitely didn't stay outside for longer periods when it was cold.

I want to share with you some drawings I did last week. They are in the same vein as the typography work I have been doing in the past. These are nature themes; flying creatures and swimming creatures.

xx Mia

MOLO KIDS

Some of the prints I made for MOLO KIDS AW 11 collection are in stores now.

I loved doing this fairy tale inspired illustration and there are more to follow in the SS 12 collection next year.

Long time - no see!

So today's Monday and it's been a long time since I posted something on this blog. Last week was pretty unusual as my son was sick and I had to stay home with him. Amazing as it sounds he used about 56 diapers in 5 days and that says it all!!!!
And the week before was also out of the ordinary as I was teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation. Talk about a long name for an institution... BUT it was great and though this was my first try at teaching I think it went pretty well. Rewarding indeed. Looking back there are things that I would have done differently, but isn't it always like that? Once the job is done you know how you could have done better. I guess that is what is called "learning from your experiences" and I certainly did learn a lot from that week of teaching fashion illustration. I have been offered to come back in February and of course I am excited and glad that they want be back.

So these are the reasons why I haven't been blogging much lately, but now I am back! I bet you've missed me.

Below is more work for Toronto Life Magazine! I love doing these portraits and today I am starting on another three. But here are last months portraits - as usual movie, book and music critics.
