Illustration for Stella

I have been doing new work for Stella a Sunday magazine inside the British The Telegraph.

The issue will be out August 28.
It is a full page illustration for a feature about Sabina Spielrein who apparently was one of the first female psychoanalysts whos ideas informed Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud. She studied under Carl Jung after he helped her recovering from what he named "hysteria". Obviously she was traumatized by having a violent father and a mother obsessed with buying everything she saw. Carl Jung was married with two kids and it was clear that the relationship that they entered became inappropriately intimate. Whether it was sexual or not is still the subject of debate, but in personal notes and letters they both declare their love for eachother.
Jung developed a means of catagorising the mind. The "persona" was the outward personality. The "anima" was the soul. He invested the anima with all sorts of qualities, some exhilarating and some dangerous. It is said that Jung's anima is Spielrein.
