PAUSE...

Hello Peeps!

I have decided that I need to pause this blog for a while. I can´t find the time or motivation to keep this going right now, so if you want to follow me and my work please do this on other applications such as instagram (www.instagram.com/miamarieovergaard) and facebook (https://www.facebook.com/miamarieovergaard/). I am also updating my website regularly, so please do check back to find new images and projects there too...

This does not mean that I am not continuing my creative business! Maybe I will return on this blog at a later point but right now I have to focus on creating great creative work and marketing my business through other channels. It has been fun while it lasted!

So long,
xxMia

PS. If you´d like to commission any work from my hand do contact me directly miaovergaard@gmail.com or contact my representative Kiki at Peppercookies in London kiki@peppercookies.com. Feel freeeeee!

New prints.

I have finally gotten around to opening up my web shop again. Here you will find limited edition prints, signed and numbered.
Now there are only two prints available, but I will be adding more over time. If you have any questions or suggestions to which images you think would make a nice print, feel free to contact me!

These are the prints I have added to the shop:

The art was made using coloured pencils, glitter glue and graphite pencils, and a bit of digital reworking and layering.

This is the link to my shop:

Kitty with a hat & piggy with a tat.

Soooo it has been a while! I know I am not the most diligent blogger around, but I love putting things up here even though it is not often it happens! Hopefully you are enjoying the scarce posts anyways...

It is time for a new update since a new collection out from Soft Gallery (kids apparel brand). They commissioned three artworks of mine for their AW 16 collection called Home Sweet Home. I created my signature animal portraits with a preppy feel, plus a tatted-up piggy. When reflecting on the "home"-theme the pig came to my mind as the pig is almost a trademark of Denmark (my home) , as we produce and export tons and tons of bacon...
The cat and the dog are two all time favourite pets, so it seemed obvious to include them too, since they are present in numerous homes in Denmark and even world-wide.

Summer!

I am adding new pieces of work to my website in a bit.
I felt like doing something out of spontaneity after finishing all those detailed pieces I have been creating for the exhibition. I have been missing working with my brushes and in color; so here you see the result of working by hand in several mediums and then layering it all in photoshop on the computer. Then reworking, adding and adjusting the colors.

Summer sure has arrived in Denmark. So I felt like using warm, vibrant colours and of course those soft pastels that I love so much...

It feels so good to be using colour again!

POP-UP expo pics

The pop-up exhibition at Edith Hegedüs is now over and I thought I wanted to share some photos from the event. I still have some of the artwork available for purchase. They are all originals - so shoot me an email if you are interested.

It was such a nice experience to work with Edith, such a talented designer, and the collaboration did also end up with me returning home with some beautiful jewellery that I did not know I needed, but obviously did...! Take a look at her beautiful work at www.no10edithhegedus.dk

To see more pics from the creation of these pieces and more "behind the scenes"-shots; please make sure to visit my instagram account: miamarieovergaard And remember sharing is caring...

Don´t you just love that marbled door??

POP-UP exhibition.

Right this Thursday April 14th Edith Hegedüs and I will host a reception (4 pm - 7 pm) at her boutique in downtown Copenhagen. I have created 19 drawings especially for this exhibition. The drawings are created as a praise for craftsmanship, slowness, worth, thoroughness and finesse. In other words; taking your time.

The imagery draws references to the nostalgia of a blurry childhood memory; a garden adventure, where a tiny mouse suddenly appears before you, or a butterfly flutters by in its unpredictable flight.

The show will run from April 14th to May 14th 2016 at Christian d. IX Gade 10. Stop by if you are in the area!

StoryTelling Paris

I am now collaborating with an agency in Paris called StoryTelling. My work is featured on their site and I love what they are aiming at. The website is in French as they are focusing on french clients within the beauty industry. I am thrilled that I was contacted by them and asked to join their team of illustrators.
Do take a look at what they have to offer and marvel at the wonderful talent pool featured on their website: www.story-telling.paris

portraits

I recently made these two portraits of my friends daughters. My friend commissioned them from me as a surprise and christmas gift for her two kids. It was such an honor to have the opportunity to portray the two girls that I have known since they were born. Two girls with such different personalities.

Flora Sofie

Linn Dagmar
One whos zodiac sign is the Sagittarius, a lover of nature and freedom, more introvert, truthful, generous and sincere.
The second the Leo, who is extrovert, strong willed and self confident.

These facts and some photo material for reference pretty much set me off to a good start, and I just kept coming up with more details to add to the portraits. These illustrations actually "grew" from the middle on out.

I love these kinds of projects where the subject is chosen but the way I handle it is left to me to decide. After all I am a freedom-loving sagittarius myself...
